On Feb. 7, 2026, 国产伦理鈥檚 chapter of 鈥擳he Honors Society for First-year Academic Success鈥攚elcomed 231 exceptional students at Cartwright Hall鈥檚 auditorium, where its annual induction and awards ceremony took place. 国产伦理鈥檚 chapter was originally founded in 1960 and currently includes more than 1,100 members as one of the most prominent chapters among the other 280 chapters across the globe. ALD is a member of the , and their mission encourages superior academic achievement among students while assisting them in academic success.
Lauren Huffman, staff advisor of 国产伦理鈥檚 ALD chapter and Honors College advising coordinator, explained, 鈥淎lpha Lambda Delta stands out as a national honor society that recognizes students early and then gives them concrete ways to grow locally and nationally. Our members can get involved in service and leadership here at 国产伦理 while also benefiting from national scholarships, a leadership certificate program, and a network of peers, all of which help them stand out as they move into their future careers.鈥
During Saturday鈥檚 induction ceremony, students were presented in front of friends and family, congratulating them for their hard work and achievement. Even though these students have only been here for a short time for their first semester, their excitement was seen and felt throughout the whole ceremony. The auditorium was filled with enthusiastic applause as students were inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta. These students pledged to use their education for the benefit of their community, nation, and the world in which they live in.
When asked what she looks forward to most during the ceremony, staff advisor Lauren Huffman expressed, 鈥淢y favorite part of the ceremony is seeing students and their families celebrate a milestone together. It鈥檚 really meaningful to see each student recognized for their hard work and welcomed into a community that truly believes in their potential.鈥
High achieving students who meet the qualifications of a 3.5 GPA or higher during their first semester are invited to join ALD. These students are presented in front of family and other ALD members during the induction ceremony, reciting the pledge to join the society. New member Kylie Pittman, a first-year student majoring in early childhood education, discussed what she looked forward to most by being inducted into ALD. 鈥淟eadership opportunities like ALD will give me opportunities to be involved in front of people, and be able to talk to them, which will be very helpful in pushing my career goals forward.鈥
Also honored at the event were the organization's eight officers, who were recognized for their work during the 2025-2026 year. These officers have received medallions to wear at commencement in recognition of their service to Alpha Lambda Delta. Those board members include: President Vinaya Patel; Vice President Karlee Adams; Communication Co-Chairs Abbey Monaghan and Hailey Drain; Membership Co-Chairs Tori DeKatch, Benny Miller, and Anagha Thumati; Programming Co-Chairs Sam Bowe and Carli Margolis.
ALD 国产伦理 chapter President Vinaya Patel, psychology and pre-med senior, remarked on her time in ALD, explaining how it has benefited her both as a student and for her professional journey in the future. 鈥淏eing in ALD has taught me how crucial it is to understand the value of communication when you have such a large group like this, and to make sure that the group itself flourishes. Going forward into my post grad life, I know I'm going to have a lot of experience that will help me understand how to make a group like this flourish and I can carry these skills to a professional setting that involves group work and delegation. ALD has given me a lot of things to look forward to and stay committed to my academic goals as well.鈥
Alpha Lambda Delta believes that all student success is something to reward, share, and celebrate. Their mission is to offer meaningful goals and further assist students by presenting opportunities as they build their unique roles in society. As a member of ALD, students are given numerous possibilities, including leadership certificates, career preparation, volunteer opportunities, a lifetime membership, and academic support.
Communication Chair Abbey Monaghen described, 鈥淥verall, ALD just really connects people over campus. I would say that's the biggest take-away I've had from this organization. Having the opportunity to help people is really important to me. Communications can be kind of a confusing aspect of the program and I want people to feel in the know all the time about what's happening. So having the opportunity to be that person to kind of calm the nerves, I'm glad that it's me doing it.鈥
The annual ALD ceremony is a prevailing example of how doing the best work and holding oneself to high standards is important in all aspects of academic life.
