The ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Board of Trustees welcomed the Class of 2026 at the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held Sept. 21 at the ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Airport. ¹ú²úÂ×Àí’s freshman class began classes on the Kent Campus nearly 7% larger than the previous year with 4,251 students – the eighth largest incoming class in the university’s 112-year history.

Governor Appoints Haley Dees to ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Board as New Undergraduate Student Trustee
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed Haley Dees of Lisbon, Ohio, to the ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Board of Trustees as an undergraduate student trustee. Dees’ two-year term runs through May 16, 2024.
Governor Names Christian Palich to ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Board of Trustees
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed Christian Palich of Plain City, Ohio, to the ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Board of Trustees. Palich will serve through May 16, 2031. Palich earned his bachelor’s degree in political science in 2009 from ¹ú²úÂ×Àí.
¹ú²úÂ×Àí Board of Trustees Approves Establishing University Operations in Rwanda, Africa
The ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Board of Trustees approved the establishment and registration of a Community Benefit Company in Rwanda, Africa, during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held May 25. ¹ú²úÂ×Àí has realized an immediate need to establish a private limited company, designated as a not-for-profit Community Benefit Company, that can serve as a strategic starting point for engaging in the African continent’s expanding higher education market.

¹ú²úÂ×Àí Board of Trustees Approves Establishing New Bachelor of Social Work Degree
The ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Board of Trustees approved the establishment of the Bachelor of Social Work degree during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held March 8. The new degree was developed based on the high demand for licensed social workers within the areas surrounding ¹ú²úÂ×Àí’s Regional Campuses. The program will be offered on the Ashtabula, Salem and Tuscarawas campuses.
