Pacifique Niyonzima lost most of his family during the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Now he is earning a graduate degree in higher education administration at ¹ú²úÂ×Àí so he can give back to his native country.

Students from Three ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Campuses Participate in the Global Game Jam Held at ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Tuscarawas

Nearly 40 students from ¹ú²úÂ×Àí's Tuscarawas, Stark and Kent campuses recently participated in ¹ú²úÂ×Àí’s first site for the Global Game Jam (GGJ), a worldwide game-making event where creators gather at 800-plus sites around the world over a weekend to make games based on a single theme over a 48-hour period.

Quick-thinking, experience and a kind heart describe freshman exploratory major Dylan Elson who took immediate action to help an employee during an apparent medical emergency. He was honored in a surprise ceremony by the Division of Student Affairs and awarded a plaque by Shay Little, Ph.D., vice president of student affairs.

¹ú²úÂ×Àí Robotics Team Places Third in NASA Robotics Mining Competition

From November 2017 to the day of the competition in May, the ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Robotics team spent months preparing for the competition held at the Kennedy Space Center. The competition is designed to mimic the procedure of having a robot on Mars if sent there by NASA. Along with 44 other university teams, the team worked together to design and construct a robot that is fashioned to mine simulated Martian terrain along with the gravel below it.

Graduate Overcomes Cancer, Paralysis to Walk at Graduation

Garrett Holubeck's diagnosis with stage 4 cancer led to him being placed on life support just to keep his heart and lungs working. Beating the odds, the Pittsburgh native completed his long journey of recovery when he crossed the stage Dec. 15 to earn a bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology.

U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan presented ¹ú²úÂ×Àí nursing major Austin Croft with the Congressional Award Silver Medal on Tuesday, Nov. 27. Mr. Croft, of Akron, Ohio, was recognized at a ceremony that took place at the College of Nursing where he was praised for his dedication to improving himself and his community.
